Among traditional herbal materials, Shou Wu is easily recognised by its deep colour and distinctive root shape. The root is generally irregular or spindle-shaped, with an exterior ranging from dark brown to blackish brown.
When sliced, natural patterns can be seen across the cut surface. Its colour and appearance may vary depending on the material and processing method. Shou Wu has a long history in traditional herbal culture and is commonly combined with other herbal ingredients.
