Sha Shen | A Gentle and Traditionally Moistening Root Herb
Among traditional herbal materials, Sha Shen is a root herb that has been used in traditional herbal culture for generations. The root is elongated with natural surface markings. After drying, its colour ranges from pale yellowish-white to yellow-brown.
When sliced, the interior appears lighter in colour, with a fine texture and a mild natural aroma. In traditional herbal culture, Sha Shen is often combined with other herbs, particularly in formulations traditionally associated with supporting the Lungs and nourishing Yin. It is also commonly found in traditional soups and herbal preparations. Its gentle character makes it suitable for combining with other herbal ingredients.
A simple-looking root, carefully harvested, processed and dried, becomes a familiar part of traditional herbal culture.
